Hannah Tümpel supports individuals, organisations and states in navigating complex conversations, resolving disputes, and building common ground, particularly in international and intercultural contexts.

Lawyer and Academic

Hannah is trained as a lawyer in Germany and holds an M.A. in Mediation and Conflict Management. She is Academic Co-Director of the Master’s Programme in Mediation and Conflict Management at the European University Viadrina and Guest Lecturer in Mediation at Humboldt University Berlin.

Certified mediator

She has been a certified mediator in Germany since 2006 and is accredited by CEDR in London. As former director of the ICC International Centre for ADR in Paris, she administered several hundred mediation, arbitration, and ADR proceedings worldwide. She also served on the ICSID conciliator list and was among the first two female conciliators appointed in ICSID cases.

Manager AND Leader

As Deputy Executive Director of UWC International, she was part of the leadership team of a multi-stakeholder organisation with entities in over 150 countries. She is also the former head of kulturweit, an international programme run by the German UNESCO Commission on behalf of the German Federal Foreign Office. Hannah supports the development of international organisations in her role as trustee on different boards. As a trainer she has worked with senior managament members of such diverse organisations as Siemens, Bosch Foundation, the German Climate Alliance and different universities.

Experience and Clients

Hannah has mediated with companies, organisations, state entities, teams and families. She has moderated high-stakes conversations internationally, including for the German Federal Foreign Office, the IBA and the German UNESCO Commission. Her work also includes mediation for organisations such as MiKK and community mediation practice with the Berlin-based non-profit ZoffOff e.V.

Multilingual and Global PracticE

Hannah is able to operate in German, English, French and Italian as required. She is based in Berlin, but is open to travelling elsewhere to work with you or to working online. She regularly works and teaches around the world.

Membership and Positions
